ANIMATION/TYPOGRAPHY
Quarterback
Comparison
A 30-second social media reel comparing two college quarterbacks, using motion typography to clearly present key statistics while matching the fast-paced energy of sports media.
This project focused on designing and animating typography for a 30-second social media reel comparing two college football quarterbacks. The goal was to create a fast-paced, visually engaging graphic that clearly presented player statistics while matching the energy of sports media.
The video footage of the players was already provided.
My role was to bring the piece together through motion design, using typography and timing to enhance the overall viewing experience.

OVERVIEW
THE PROBLEM / DESIGN CHALLENGE
Designing within a fixed edit while maintaining clarity and pace
Short-form sports content requires instant clarity and engagement. With pre-existing video and audio, the challenge was aligning typography to the pacing of the edit while presenting key quarterback stats (completion percentage, passing yards, touchdowns, and interceptions) within a clear, 30-second structure.
The animation was completed in Adobe After Effects, where I integrated exported typography with the provided video and audio. Using a structured timeline, I aligned each element to key moments, refining timing and motion to create smooth transitions and a cohesive, fully integrated flow.
Using typography to guide timing and structure
Since the footage and audio were already established, I used typography to enhance the existing narrative. Text was timed to key audio beats, with motion reinforcing transitions between players and stats. Each element appeared at the right moment to create a consistent rhythm. I also added a subtle gradient to improve legibility and help the type stand out against the footage.
FINAL ANIMATION
A fast, clear comparison for socials
The final design used a minimal system where typography drove the communication. High-contrast visuals and bold, oversized numbers ensured clarity, while motion synced to audio and pacing guided the viewer seamlessly through the comparison. The result was a fast, engaging piece that transformed static data into a clear, digestible format for sports media.
